i walk quietly through an expanse of dewy grass and feel the tall blades deposit cool droplets on the skin of my ankles and feet my eyes settle on the opal mist hovering above the heavy heads of summer wheat stretching as far as my eyes can see i breathe in the coolness of the air and notice the way it moves crisply across my exposed skin i lift my eyes to the horizon and watch as an unseen hand paints soft pastels across the sky an overgrown path winks invitingly offering to take me somewhere new but i decline because i have no desire to go or do i just want to be a part of this lovely morning
